Balaam Residence

Balaam Residence

Located in the Brisbane River in Hamilton, the Balaam residence is a luxurious home that accommodates for a large family of 10. The house itself is a work of art, with the exterior being extremely well crafted and design, the interiors being meticulously crafted to form a coherent look and feel
to the entire house.

The house’s response to the environmental issue is quite remarkable, with many ‘green’ features. A ventilation core at the centre of the design allows for full flow-through ventilation and heat stack effects, aided by operable louvers, and shutters and blinds set to solar clocks. In this way, air-conditioning is rarely used.  This also has quite a massive underground tank beneath the back area of the house to collect rain water which feeds through an irrigation system; as well as adding water to the swimming pool.

Built for a large family, the Balaam House succeeds in almost every aspect. The artistic appearance of the house and the experience that it depicts are genuinely modern and contemporary. This house successfully provides for all the family members who are of different generations and offers adequate space for both private and social interactions. There are personal areas exclusive for the parents and there are also social areas for the kids to work, rest, and play to their hearts content.

Though the materials used were only white concrete, jarrah and zinc, due to the remarkable finish it presents, the design was to use these materials in somewhat a more continuous repetition to have that style of uniformity. And to add to that, these materials continue to present an even more amazing finish as it matures
throughout the years; giving the design of the house a bit more character as it progresses
